It's been another unfortunate week of sickness in our house, Elliott caught what Thomas had, so thinking up the things that make me thankful is really helping me with perspective. Before I ruin any of my thankful's in this paragraph, I'd better just get started on the list!
1. Our health care system. For real. There's something called Medeo, (basically you see a doctor from the comfort of your home via the website) which I thought of using but then remembered I don't have a microphone on my computer. I would've loved to have used it though! Would've saved us a trip to the walk in clinic. Though, I'm extremely thankful that the walk in clinic at the superstore near our house was opening just as we arrived and that they were super fast to see patients. All in all I think we may have waited 20 minutes. Not bad at all.
2. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen. That might seem strange, or even bad. But when you have a sick little guy, piggy backing these two pain relievers can save a lot of trouble. I made sure to check with our doctor, and obviously when we aren't sick I won't use this method of pain relief, but for now, Elliott gets a dose of Acetaminophen and 2 hours later a dose of Ibuprofen, then we wait a few hours and do it all over again.
3. Giant Teddy Bears. Thomas has a big puppy, that he loves to lay on and read books, but it's become a point of contention because Elliott wants the puppy too. So I remembered that we have 2 giant teddy bears stored in the boys closet (which gets little use), and decided to pull them out to quell the fighting. They love them! And now they're not fighting over the puppy anymore!
4. Songza. Right?! Don't you just love songza? Best app ever on my phone. I really love the Modern Worship Songs playlist. And the boys love music of any kind so they're always happy when I turn it on and plug it into our sound system!
5. Great Landlords... who are super understanding when we tell them we're moving. They have been by far the best landlords we've had. It doesn't hurt that I've known them for most of my life. :) We are sad to leave this house, but we are also super excited about our future, and moving to the Fraser Valley.
6. Nail Polish. I wouldn't say I'm a prissy girl. I like to look nice, and I love to have my nails painted. I may have an entire Pinterest board just for nail polish. It might be an addiction. But it just makes me so happy to have a fun colour on my nails!
7. My Sewing Machine. I'm only just getting to know it, but boy I'm having fun doing that! I've always wanted to learn how to sew, and I am surprised how much I remember from middle school "mini courses".
8. Cake Wrecks. This website seriously makes me day, all of the time. I'm for sure an ammature cake decorater, and I'd probably be mooooortified if something I made ended up on this site, but at the same time, I'm sure I'd have already poked fun at my own poor creation. Haha. Seriously, for a good giggle, go check it out!
9. Amazon. I feel like I'm thankful for too many websites... but Amazon is so helpful! I needed to replace a belt on my vacuum cleaner, and was able to find that part on amazon at a significantly lower price than shipping it from the vacuum company in the states. I even had it express shipped for less than the cost without shipping from the company it's made at!
10. The public library. Whenever we need to something new to read we just run down there and grab a few. The boys love getting to pick their own books to read!
