Outfit of the day

Alright, I'm going to be honest here for a moment, and you'll probably judge me for it... but here goes. I wore the same outfit 2 days in a row. I can't help that it was super super ridiculously comfy though, and that it's my very favorite skirt. And I wasn't dirty or stinky yesterday - promise!

So I guess technically this isn't an outfit of today day, it's an outfit of 2 days. *grin*

Sorry, I cut my head off, I was making a stupid face. And yes, my arm is like that because I had just done a "bend and snap" legally blonde style.

On to the outfit.
I have a lot of tank tops, mostly from old navy, and my favorite thing to do is layer them up (also because some of them are thin and my bra shows through ;) ). Anyways, this is my favorite colour combo, navy blue and sea foam green. I wasn't sure if the cobalt blue chevron maxi skirt would be too much cool shade for one outfit, but decided after a very small amount of deliberation that it was just fine. This is my comfy, casual daytime outfit that works for playing with the kids, and then if I decide to go out at night I could pop on some chunky jewelry and a pair of fancy sandals.

What's your favorite comfy casual outfit of the day (or 2 days)?

Outfit of the Day

I think awhile back I might have mentioned wanting to add some fashion-y type stuff to this old blog... so why not start now?!

A few weekends ago I went on a little shopping trip with my bff, and came home with this little dress. It's perfectly "me". It's exactly the style I would be drawn to at any store. I love the fun colours of the flowers on the lace, and I like that it's not crazy flashy. Since I'm off to church later this evening, I've put a little chambray button down with it, and tied it in the front to "dress it down" a bit. I often pass up more "fancy" looking dresses, because I don't usually have anywhere to wear them. I'm planning to wear this dress to a wedding later this summer, and I love that I can dress it down, or dress it up, and it still won't be uber fancified. (**really must try to remember to pull out my real camera for this ootd thing, iPhone pictures just don't do the dress justice!)

This dress is definitely going to be a staple in my wardrobe, so happy with the find!

I Heart Makeup

Have you ever heard of Ipsy?

I hadn't either until today. My SIL posted a link to her facebook, and being that I love makeup so much, I clicked immediately. I'm so excited to see what's in my glam bag.

There's a lot of the "deliver it right to your door" things going on right now. I've seen this kind of thing for tea, fruits and veggies, candles, healthy snack options... which I really think is a cool idea. That's kind of why I jumped on this one so fast. If I had to think about how much money I spend monthly on makeup and nail polish, it'd probably be about $10-20. Some months more, some less. So this Ipsy thing sounds pretty good at roughly $14/month (including shipping). I filled out a questionnaire about my "relationship" with makeup, tell them I'm see through pale with strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, and they will send me personalized makeup each month. I think I'm probably going to watch the mailbox like a hawk each month!

Anyways, if you like makeup, go check this site out through the link below :)

Ipsy... beauty by you

I've recently decided I can't live without my Revlon Skinlights, and my primer. I like to have that smooth base to put my foundation on, and I love the way the skinlights isn't glittery or obnoxious, just creates a nice light. What are some of your favorite makeup products? Anything you can't live without?

**Disclaimer -- I was in no way contacted to write a post about Ipsy. It was my own idea to write a blog post about it. I am a consumer, and have earned nothing in writing this post, except the joy of sharing something fun like makeup right to your door!**

Limbo and Love Yourself

We've known for quite awhile now that we'll be moving this summer. Now that it's finally Spring it feels like time has slowed right down. I think we're all feeling a little stuck. We want to start packing and organizing, but we have 3 months til the move and that seems really premature. We just want to get on with it, already! We're also thinking we'll be getting a puppy when we move, because Josh and I have always wanted to have a dog for the family to love. Sure, we have Little Foot to love, but he's rather unpredictable and that makes it hard to want to cuddle with him sometimes. You never quite know if he's going to purr or bite you (gently). He's also a bit rebellious, (duh, cat), and he'll scratch our furniture, which totally irks me.

I'm going to start filling holes and touch up painting pretty soon, I'm hoping it's not a 3 month long project, but it'll be good to get started now. And of course it's time to start purging all our stuff we don't use. I'm not looking forward to that part. I'm not a hoarder, by any means, but we do have stuff that we haven't looked at in years, but it likely has sentimental value.

The sun shining these past few days has been so nice, but makes it hard for me to be productive in the house. I'd rather be outside with the kids! Not wishing for rain (!!!!) but I think it's time I learned to balance work and play. ;)

Alright, down to the serious matter that's been on my heart lately. I've included a link below; basically it's showing women and different sizes in clothing, who all weigh the same. I'm of the mindset that we are all beautiful; curvy, skinny, in between, tall, short... ect. There was a thing on some plus size websites going around that started calling the curvier girl a "real" woman. And while I do definitely think that the plus size community (myself included) may have needed that boost in confidence, it also brought down women who are not curvy. And that doesn't sit right with me. Yes, bigger girls are real... but uh, so are skinny girls. What would make anyone less "real"? We're all matter. We're all made by God. That's real.

As a woman who loves her body, no matter what size I'm at, all I have to say to those struggling with body issues is;  Your clothing size does not make you any less of your defining characteristics. If you're compassionate, silly, gracious, and a little snarky at times, being a size 2 or a size 22 isn't going to change that about you. You are beautiful, no matter what store you shop in, what size you wear, or how many stretch marks you have, because we all have those. You are beautiful whether you work out several times a week, or feel accomplished after a 30 minute walk once in awhile.

We all have insecurities, we all have things we'd like to change. But wouldn't our world be a very different place if we focused on the bad attitudes that need a shake up? Worked on our internal health as much as we picked at our outsides? Just a thought. So have a look at the link, it's quite neat to see all the different bodies who all weigh the same but are different sizes.
